U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) firm Anthropic is reportedly in final negotiations with NTT Data Group, the world's third-largest data center operator, to construct a data center with a maximum capacity of 500 megawatts (MW) on the southern coast of Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The construction cost is estimated to reach up to 1 trillion yen (approximately 8.49 trillion KRW), making it one of Japan's largest in terms of power reception capacity. If a large quantity of high-specification Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) servers for advanced AI operations are introduced, the total facility investment could amount to several trillion yen.
