Anthropic is facing fresh scrutiny over employee departures after two builders closely associated with Claude Code, Thariq Shihipar and Anthony Morris, announced their exits within a day of each other. Shihipar, who spent more than a year working on Claude Code, said he is taking a break before "diving into something new," while Morris, the creator of Claude Code on desktop, listed Oct. 23 as his last day at Anthropic and said, "I'll share what's next soon!" Their departures have fueled speculation online, particularly after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman publicly pointed to a recent wave of Anthropic employees leaving. Shihipar's departure is notable because of his more than one year working on Claude Code, Anthropic's coding-focused product.
