Letter to the editor: An information windfall, thanks to Musk, Anthropic

Elon Musk and Anthropic have pledged significant donations to a new “public benefit” fund. For Musk, that means one SpaceX share to each of about 73 million kids in the U.S. If it happens, Musk will be paying each kid about $150 (today’s value of one share of SpaceX) in return for the contact and demographic information of every kid in America plus the contact information for their parents. And the contact information will be updated every year that the kid holds the stock. That’s far more information than the Nazis had about the Jewish population of Germany.
