Anthropic is expanding its Claude partnership with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), offering government agencies a 40% discount across Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API, with the company estimating the deal could save governments $1 billion. The agreement also extends to state, local, tribal and territorial governments as Anthropic pushes to expand Claude 's use across the public sector. For the first time, Anthropic said the discount will apply across every product surface, including agencies purchasing directly from the company today and through cloud providers in the coming months. Government agencies will not be required to make a minimum spending commitment and will instead pay based on the Claude usage they consume. Anthropic said approximately 500 U.S. federal, state, and local government organizations now use Claude.
