Anthropic Guest Investigators Program Gives Academics Internal Claude Access and Full Data Rights

Anthropic's new Guest Investigators program offers what no commercial API can: direct collaboration with the company's own research team, access to models that have never been publicly released, and a legally explicit guarantee that academic researchers will keep their data and all follow-on research rights — no matter what they discover during the collaboration. The Anthropic open call for investigators, published on Wednesday, invites principal investigators and their research groups at academic institutions, nonprofits, and government labs to apply for 8-to-12-week embedded research collaborations. Private companies and startups are not eligible. Anthropic covers all model-compute costs; selected researchers bring a defined scientific problem and leave with full ownership of the data and the right to publish and pursue independent follow-on work.
