Google has introduced a new AI agent for businesses that can plan and execute tasks across workplace applications, expanding Gemini beyond its traditional role as a conversational assistant. The company will initially focus on enterprise customers before making the agent available to consumers. Announced at a Google Cloud event on Thursday, the agent allows users to assign objectives that it can pursue by accessing specialised tools, company data and connected applications. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Gemini has more than one billion monthly active users, while nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies use Gemini Enterprise at work.
