Some investors discussed a valuation of around $1.5 trillion at an investor meeting, Reuters reported last week. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt owns about a 1 per cent stake in Anthropic, potentially making him one of the biggest individual beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence startup’s planned initial public offering (IPO), Bloomberg News reported on Monday. Schmidt invested tens of millions of dollars in Anthropic’s Series A funding round, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. It remains unclear whether he has sold any portion of his stake since the investment. Anthropic and representatives for Schmidt did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The AI startup’s planned IPO is expected to generate substantial returns for its early investors and employees.
