Meta has apologized after Instagram wrongly suspended the account of the No Kings Coalition, a group that opposes US President Donald Trump’s policies and helps organize protests and voter outreach events. The incident happened on October 17, when the Instagram profile of the group went offline. It was a nationwide day of action ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. The suspension was reportedly for 90 minutes but the impact lasted for hours. The outage came on a busy day, when the group and its partners held nearly 3,000 events across the United States. Meta said the suspension activity was linked to Anthropic’s Claude AI tool.
