According to U.S. media reports, the rights holders to Elvis Presley’s music have filed a lawsuit against the AI company Anthropic. The reports state that the development company behind the chatbot Claude allegedly fed more than 270 of Presley’s songs into its system to train its AI models—without the consent of the administrators of the King of Rock ’n’ Roll’s musical legacy. Other companies, such as OpenAI—the developer of ChatGPT—are also facing allegations and lawsuits regarding the development of their AI models. The programs must first be trained using millions of data points from books, the internet, or other sources in order to generate the most accurate answers possible based on that data.
