Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Anthropic's first initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was made public on Monday, disclosing the risks presented by developing AI. In the filing, Anthropic shared concerns that developing AI models without sufficient safeguards would both negatively impact its business prospects and "pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity." "We have observed that our models are contributing to the pace of our own research and these risks will increase as AI systems substantially automate AI research and development if, for example, they accelerate AI progress beyond our ability to evaluate and safeguard new models, which could adversely affect our business, financial condition, and results of operations," the SEC filing stated.
