Stakeholders said Anthropic trained its models on 250-plus Elvis songs and demanded $41 million in compensation. The Elvis suit, though, is notable because it centers on a single musician who died decades before AI was a thing (though some have tried to recreate him as a robot ). Anthropic has previously claimed that training its AI models on copyrighted music constitutes "fair use." In a short statement to Engadget, Anthropic said that "we disagree with the claims and intend to defend this case fully."
