[image1] Music publisher Reservoir Media filed separate federal lawsuits against AI companies Anthropic and Suno, accusing them of using copyrighted songs by Madonna, Johnny Cash and Joni Mitchell to train artificial intelligence models without permission, Billboard reported Thursday. The lawsuits, filed Wednesday, allege the companies copied protected music and lyrics to develop AI systems capable of generating new content that competes with human artists. Reservoir cited songs including Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi," Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" among the copyrighted works allegedly used without authorization. "We disagree with the allegations and intend to defend this case vigorously," an Anthropic spokesperson told Fox News Digital. The legal action adds to mounting copyright challenges facing AI developers over their use of protected material for model training.
